VCTF investigating drive-by shooting

The Greenwood County Violent Crimes Task Force is investigating a drive-by shooting which occurred around 8 p.m. Tuesday night.

According to a Greenwood Police Department report, police responded to Williams Avenue just before 8 p.m. Tuesday after receiving a report of gunshots in the area. Multiple witnesses told police they saw two people shooting from the passenger side of a vehicle, possibly a black Toyota Avalon, as it traveled east on Osborne Street. No injuries were reported.

According to the report, witnesses told police they saw the vehicle driving back and forth slowly on Williams Avenue just prior to the shooting. The witnesses told police it appeared the shots were being fired toward the dirt parking lot between Williams Avenue and Osborne Street. There were a number of people in the parking lot, but all refused to identify themselves or provide police with any information about the incident. Police did locate one small caliber shell casing on the edge of the roadway on Osborne Street.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
