Ken Harper Named Chief Operating Officer for Countybank

Countybank is pleased to announce that Executive Vice President Kenneth M. Harper has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer for the bank.  In this role Harper will oversee all strategic development, sales and operations management for Countybank, Countybank Insurance Services and Countybank Mortgage.

Countybank President and Chief Executive Officer R. Thornwell Dunlap III remarked “I am glad to have someone with Ken’s depth and breadth of experience overseeing the day-to-day operations of the banking, insurance and mortgage organizations. He has a great strategic mind and has already proven his value to our organization in the time he has been here.”

“With our clear strategic vision to leverage our integrated business units and Ken to drive operations, I look forward to our organization continuing to grow as we look for additional strategic opportunities in the markets we serve.”

Harper joined Countybank in July 2011 as Executive Vice President and Manager of Commercial Lending. He has more than twenty-six years of experience in the banking industry.  Previously he worked with Greer State Bank where he served as President and Chief Executive Officer.  Prior to that he was with Carolina First as Executive Vice President, Senior Commercial Banker and Market President.

“I remain very pleased to be part of an organization with such a rich history, and that is also so well-positioned for the future. The wide array of superior financial services offered through our diversified and integrated lines of business continue to make Countybank unique within the community banking sector.  I have found our entire team of associates to be very deep in terms of experience, enthusiasm and commitment, with core values that keep building and leveraging one-on-one relationships as the primary focus” Harper said. “I am equally proud of Countybank’s dominant market position in Greenwood and its success and growth opportunities in the Greenville market. Our story is a good one to tell, with much remaining to be written.”

Harper is a 1999 graduate of the Louisiana State University Graduate School of Banking as well as a 1986 graduate of Duke University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics.

Harper’s civic involvement includes service on the boards of the United Way of Greenville County, Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce, Thornblade Club Board of Governors, Special Olympics of South Carolina, South Carolina Bankers Association and Greer Development Corporation.  He is the current Board Chair for the Greenville County Schools Foundation.  He has been an active member of the American Bankers Association Community Bankers Council and is a graduate of the Greenville and Greer Leadership Programs.

Countybank began its service to the Upstate in 1933, when it was founded by a group of local businessmen.  Today, Countybank is a full service, integrated financial services provider with five full-service locations and worldwide access via mobile and online banking.  In addition to a full array of traditional banking products, Countybank’s integrated divisions are poised to meet any financial need, and include Countybanc Insurance Services, Inc., Countybanc Investment Services, Inc., Countybank Mortgage, Countybank Trust Services, and Greenwood Capital Associates, LLC, an independently operated subsidiary of TCB Corporation, the holding company forCountybank.   Each division is staffed by the area’s most sought-after professionals in their respective fields to provide customers with the tools to achieve their financial goals.
