The Lander University Alumni Association is planning a special event in December that will give Lander alumnae of all ages an opportunity to purchase unique holiday gifts and help their alma mater at the same time.
The Lander Lily Luncheon will take place Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the university’s Cambridge Hall, located at 1024 W. Cambridge Ave., in Greenwood. The event, which begins at noon, will feature a presentation by Sandra Hughes of “image,” who will showcase a variety of fashionable scarves in many colors, fabrics and styles. She will also demonstrate easy and trendy ways to wear the scarves, which will be available for purchase, including using accessories such as rings and slides.
Tickets for the luncheon are $10 and are available through the university’s Office of Alumni Affairs at 864-388-8351. The event is open to all Lander alumni, and guests of alumni are also welcomed. Because seating is limited, those interested in attending are encouraged to purchase their tickets early.
Proceeds from ticket sales, as well as a portion of the sales from the scarves, will benefit scholarships at the university. Myra Greene, director of Alumni Affairs, said, “Scarves are extremely versatile and stylish, and they make perfect gifts for friends and relatives. The best part is knowing that your gift will also help deserving students.”
Greene said organizers hope the luncheon will become an annual tradition.
