Piedmont Technical College will hold a Health Care Programs and Careers Showcase Thursday, July 10 to allow baby boomers to explore the many options available to them in the health care field. The event will be held in room 102C of the James C. Self Conference Center on the Lex Walters Campus in Greenwood from 3-5:30 p.m.
The event is being offered through the Plus 50 Encore Completion Program, a national effort to train 10,000 baby boomers for new jobs in health care, education and social services. The program is sponsored by the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC).
“Whether they are returning to college to further their career or attending for the first time to fulfill a longtime aspiration, we want them to know what options are available to them,” said Jerry Alewine, dean of health sciences.
Instructors will be on hand to offer information on what is required for all of the health science and nursing programs available at Piedmont Tech as well as what could be expected in the field. Several current students will also be available to give a different perspective on what they should expect from the programs.
For those who attend and are ready to enroll, PTC will also be hosting Instant Admissions on that day. Instant Admissions will allow students to apply and enroll for fall classes all in one day.
“Our goal is to provide information to the plus 50 population about the specific programs we offer and help them take that first step toward a rewarding career,” said Alewine.
