Ware Shoals Councilman Patrick dies at 60

Brian King
Staff Writer

WARE SHOALS, SC – Ware Shoals Town Councilman Donald Patrick died of natural causes Tuesday at his home in Ware Shoals at the age of 60.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, Patrick had been Pastor of Turkey Creek Baptist Church for the past 8 years, a manager with Goodrich in Hodges for 5 years, supervisor with GE in Albuquerque, N.M., for 20 years, and served on the Ware Shoals Town Council from Jan. 2011 to the present.

“The Town of Ware Shoals is deeply saddened by the loss of Reverend Donald Patrick,” Ware Shoals Mayor John Hansen. “We are joyful that he is now at home in God’s Kingdom, but saddened that he is not with us here in body. We remember Don for his servanthood to Christ, his family and his community. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and community as they go through this grieving process.”

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26 at Turkey Creek Baptist Church with Rev. James F. Davis III officiating. The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Online condolences may be made at www.parkerwhitepruitt.com.

A special election will be held April 23 to fill the vacated council seat, according to Connie Moody, director of elections and voter registration for Greenwood County. Filing will open Wednesday, Feb. 6 at noon and close on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at noon. Candidates must be a registered voter and reside within the municipal boundaries of the Town of Ware Shoals.
