DEU arrests three for marijuana distribution

Agents with Greenwood’s Drug Enforcement Unit arrested three men on Sunday after they executed a search warrant and reportedly discovered marijuana packaged in several bags on their persons.

According to a report from the Greenwood Police Department, DEU agents arrived at 102 Palmetto Ct. in Greenwood at about 6 p.m. on Sunday to serve the search warrant. After identifying themselves and gaining entry to the residence, agents discovered three men, later identified as Tobias Dionte Brooks, 20, of the residence, Demarion Shawtell Holmes, 23, of 39 New Haven Rd. Apt. 2-D, and Stantavious Jamar Hackett, 21, of 314 Cambridge Ave., in a rear bedroom.

The report states that agents saw Brooks throw a bag containing marijuana onto the bed and drop a pistol into the chair in which he was sitting as he stood up. Agents then handcuffed all three men and placed them in investigative detention.

A search of the three men turned up about 33 grams of marijuana packaged in separate bags, two sets of digital scales and $1,293 in cash found on Brooks, according to the report. The report further states that agents discovered two Seagram’s gin bottles, one 200mL and one 100mL, containing a pink liquid.

All three men were charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Brooks was given a $5,000 surety bond, while Holmes and Hackett both received personal recognizance bond. All three were released on Monday.
