Fire destroys home on Bucklevel Road
Thanks for reading GwdToday - Everyday!

A fire destroyed a home on Bucklevel Road on Monday evening. Coronaca and Northwest fire departments responded and extinguished the fire, but were unable to save the home.

The two fire departments along with the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 710 Bucklevel Road at about 5:30 p.m. Monday evening in reference to smoke coming from a home. Officials say that the one of the residents of the home and her son were inside the residence when the fire started, but were able to get out of the residence without injury. The two were sitting in the living room when they heard a smoke detector sound. When they went to check the back bedroom, they saw flames and heard loud popping noises.

The female resident told officials that all of her medicine, including her oxygen tanks, was still inside the home at the time of the fire. The American Red Cross was notified and arrived at about 6:30 p.m.

Officials said that everything in the home was destroyed by either fire, smoke or water. No injuries were sustained in the fire, officials said.
