A Greenwood woman was arrested Monday night after she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend and threw his prosthetic legs into the yard so that he could not pursue her.
According to a report from the Greenwood Police Department, police responded to 121 S. Hospital St. on Monday around 11:15 p.m. after receiving a call from a woman, later identified as Michelle Wilson Thomas, 48, saying she had stabbed her boyfriend because he was attempting to hit her. Thomas told police that her live-in boyfriend had hit her after she returned home from the store to get him a pack of cigarettes. Thomas told police that she then went to the kitchen and got a knife and began swinging in a defensive manner to keep her boyfriend from hitting her again. Thomas told police that she cut her boyfriend’s hands then removed his prosthetic leg and threw it out the front door so that he would not be able to pursue her.
According to the report, Thomas’ boyfriend said that she came home from being out with his friends and produced a knife. The victim told police that Thomas began swinging the knife at him and he placed his hands in front of his face to protect himself. The victim told police that he was able to get Thomas off of him, but that she removed his prosthetic leg and threw it into the yard. The victim also said that she threw his spare leg into the yard.
According to the report, the victim had cuts on his hands consistent with defending himself from an attack with a knife and also had a stab wound to his left thigh. Thomas had a knot on her forehead and a small laceration on her right hand which she says she obtained during a struggle for the knife. The victim was transported to Self Regional Medical Center to receive treatment for his injuries.
Thomas was arrested and charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature.
