A man was injured after being struck by a train near Beadle Avenue around 8 p.m. Thursday night.
According to officials with the Greenwood Police Department, the victim was walking down the tracks when he was struck by a train on the tracks about 100 yards from Sullivan Avenue, behind the Brewer Community Complex. The victim, a 47-year-old man that lives on White Oak Lane in Greenwood, lay beside the tracks for an unknown amount of time before he was discovered around 8 p.m., officials said.
The man had multiple lacerations to his head and possible chest trauma in addition to a nearly severed left arm, officials said. He was airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital to receive treatment for his injuries.
