A Greenwood man is facing his 11th and 12th shoplifting charges after he allegedly stole items from a Spinx station and a Dollar General Store.
According to reports from the Greenwood Police Department, police were dispatched to the Spinx station located at 102 Bypass 25 NE at about 10:45 Sunday morning following a report of a man, later identified as Kevin McMeans, 50, of 410 Milwee St., taking to 12 ounce cans of beer and a box of Snickers candy bars from the store without paying for them. Police observed McMeans place the two cans of beer inside his pants and the box of Snickers candy bars inside his jacket before leaving the story without paying. Police recognized McMeans from prior incidents of shoplifting, but were unable to locate him at that time.
According to the reports, police were called to the Dollar General located in the Hampton Place shopping center on Hampton Avenue at about 9:30 a.m. in reference to a shoplifter. While en route to the store, police were notified that the suspect had left the store and was walking down the railroad tracks near Uptown Greenwood.
