Greenwood Metropolitan District recently recognized local industries for their outstanding compliance record with their pretreatment permit. Pretreatment permits are required for users that have the potential to impact the publicly owned wastewater treatment plants due to the nature of their business.

The 2012 silver award recipients were Carolina Pride Foods, Eaton Corporation Hydraulics Group, Eaton Electrical, Greenwood Fabricating and Plating, and Greenwood Mills Harris Plant.

The 2012 Gold Award recipients were; Ascend Performance Materials, Center Manufacturing, CNC Plating, Cooper Power Systems, Covidien, and the Greenwood County Landfill.

FUJIFILM Manufacturing received the Palmetto Award for achieving perfect compliance with effluent water quality standards and reporting requirements for the past ten consecutive years.
