Lander University’s Alumni Association and the Greenwood Tower Club are gearing up for an evening of dancing, food, a limited silent auction, door prizes and fun at the 2013 “SummerFest at Sproles,” Saturday, Aug. 10.
The event is open to the public and takes place from 7-10 p.m. in Lander’s Sproles Recreation Center, adjacent to the university’s Jackson Library. Parking will be available in the lot across the street.
Tickets are $20 per person (or $15 for current Tower Club members) and can be purchased in advance by calling the Lander Alumni Office at 864-388-8351 or by e-mailing email@example.com. Proceeds will benefit the Lander University Student Wellness Fund, which provides students in need with assistance in purchasing essential items such as food, books and medicine; and the Lander Alumni Association Historic Preservation Fund. Established by the Alumni Association Board, the Historic Preservation Fund is currently raising funds to build a replica of the Lander Gazebo once located next to the Laura Lander Hall bell tower.
“SummerFest at Sproles” will feature a live DJ and a cookout meal, said Kat Finkbeiner, Co-President of the Greenwood Tower Club. “Lander is a huge part of the Greenwood community and residents are encouraged to participate, have a great time, and support two very important and worthy causes,” she said.
