A Greenwood man was killed Tuesday night after stepping out in front of a car on S. Main St. near Greenwood High Apartments.
Greenwood County Coroner Sonny Cox has identified the man as 55-year-old Derrell J. Anty. Anty was also known as “Q Rock,” according to Cox.
According to officials with the Greenwood Police Department, the incident occurred at about 9 p.m. Tuesday night. Anty stepped off the curb and was struck by an oncoming pickup truck. Anty was transported to Self Regional Medical Center, where he was stabilized. Anty died from his injuries while being airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Cox said that Anty was pronounced dead at Greenville Memorial Hospital at 1:51 a.m. and died as a result of blunt force trauma sustained in the incident.
GPD officials said that Anty was walking east across S. Main St. when he was hit by the truck. The driver of the truck said she was travelling north on S. Main St. when the incident occurred.
