You may not realize it yet, but there’s a good chance you’re already a fan of electronic music. What was once constrained to warehouses and underground clubs has now grown and evolved into a dominating force in the clubs and on the radio. Whether you first fell in love with the rhythmic “Don’t You Worry Child” by Swedish house Mafia, Daft Punks nod to 70’s disco “Get Lucky” or maybe it was the heavy bass and distorted synths in “Bangarang” by Skrillex, odds are you’ve been exposed to some genre of electronic music that has spoken to you somehow.
One of the most amazing things about Electronic music is that it covers so many different musical tastes. The producers who create the music are daring. They’re pioneering a new style of music, not afraid to break down boundaries. You’ll hear house tracks reminiscent of modern pop music, trap and dubstep with the bass and vibe of hip hop music, recently some producers have even ventured into creating music modeled around the rhythms and sounds of country music.
The growing presence is finally extending into the mainstream radio and clubs but there is one event that embodies electronic music, the rave. You see, EDM (electronic dance music) is about much more than what you hear; it’s about what you feel. That steady beat brings everybody to one place, one level, then it takes them somewhere new, builds energy and hype in the crowd, keeps everyone together. EDM is about shared experience. That’s what makes the Rave so essential to the culture. Taking a group of different people and giving them the full experience, the lights, the lasers, the bass, the melodies, the synths, everyone feels it together. It makes for an awesome energy and a fun environment.
On Friday, that experience is positioned to take Greenwood by storm. I'm going to be transforming the Oxygen Lounge into the biggest Rave Greenwood has ever seen. Whether you're a fan of Electronic Music, Awesome Light Shows, or just love to party with friends, there will be something for everyone.
