VCTF investigating shooting at Cabstand Club

***UPDATE***

Greenwood County Coroner Sonny Cox has identified the victim as 31-year-old Jamaal Antron Aiken. Cox said Aiken died at about 12:30 a.m. Friday morning while in surgery at Self Regional Medical Center. Cox said Aiken died from the gunshot received in the incident. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.

Investigators have arrested Alphonso Morgan Jr., 35, in connection with the incident. Morgan is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Morgan will be arraigned on those charges Friday morning.

Shots rang out in Greenwood for the third consecutive night, this time at the Cabstand Club, located at 610 Seaboard Ave.

Investigators with the Greenwood County Violent Crimes Task Force say that one man was shot and is in critical condition following an altercation at the club. The victim approached a car in which the suspect was seated and was shot. The suspect is in custody, but has not been formally charged in connection with the incident.

Police responded to the club at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday night after receiving a call saying shots had been fired at the club. The incident is still under investigation.

On Tuesday, shots were fired into an apartment at Georgetown Apartments. Wednesday night saw a brutal double homicide at the Extended Stay motel on Montague Avenue. The double homicide marked the 14th and 15th homicide victims in Greenwood County in 2013.
