A Donalds man has been arrested in connection with a burglary in which a number of guns were stolen from a Greenwood residence.

According to a report from the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to a residence on Chipley Road on Jan. 6 in reference to a burglary. The victim told deputies that a total of six guns were missing from the residence. The guns missing were a Bushmaster Carbon .223-5.56 caliber rifle, a Weatherby Vanguard .270 caliber rifle, Glock .40 caliber pistol, Ruger LCP .380 caliber handgun, Savage LR .22 caliber rifle and a Mossburg 12-guage shotgun. The total value of the guns is about $4,500.

According to the report, police observed the back door to have been pried open. The victim told deputies that he believed he knew who had taken the weapons. The victim told deputies that a friend, with whom he had problems in the past, mat have taken the guns. The victim told deputies that the guns were kept in a bedroom where only someone with knowledge of where they were kept would know to look for them. The guns were entered into NCIC.

According to the report, John Collion Calhoun, 34, of 85 Lower Shady Grove Rd., Donalds, was located with at least one of the stolen guns last Friday. Calhoun is a convicted felon and not allowed to be in possession of a firearm. Calhoun has been charged with possession of a stolen firearm and felon in possession of a firearm in connection with the incident. More charges could be forthcoming.
