A Hodges man is facing a charge of first degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor after investigators say he molested an 8-year-old child.
According to a report from the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to an elementary school in Greenwood County on Tuesday. Deputies met with an official with the S.C. Department of Social Services and a school counselor. The DSS official told deputies she had spoken with the 8-year-old victim and the victim said she had been molested by an acquaintance of the family.
According to the report, the victim DSS officials Donald Edward Derrick, 49, had touched her inappropriately numerous times, the last occasion being a few days ago. The victim told DSS officials that the abuse had been going on as long as she could remember.
According to the report, deputies went to Derrick’s home and asked him to speak with them about some accusations which had been made against him. Derrick immediately responded that he “had done nothing” and would “need a lawyer.”
Derrick was arrested and charged with first degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor. Court records indicate Derrick currently has multiple charges pending, including two DUI charges and a drug possession charge.
