Officials with the Due West Police Department say they have spoken to the suspect and the missing child and expect the child to be returned soon.
According to Barry New of Due West police Department, the abduction was a family situation.
“(The abduction) was a family situation,” New said. “We expect that the child will be returned and everything will work out.”
New declined to give further details about the case.
The Due West Police Department is searching for a missing girl believed to be abducted by a Greenwood man.
According to a “Be on the Lookout,” or BOLO, police in Greenwood and Abbeville counties are searching for Eugene Valentine Miller, 56, of 105 Curl Drive, Greenwood. Police believe he may have abducted 7-year-old Miriah Miller from Due West. Miriah Miller has braids and was last seen wearing a pink jacket.
Eugene Miller is believed to be driving a white 2007 Chevy Silverado with tag DNQ 558. Authorities believe he may be armed with a pistol. Anyone seeing Eugene Miller, Miriah Miller or the vehicle should immediately call 911.
An Amber Alert has not been issued at this time and no photo of the child has been made available at this time.
