Report: Man arrested after naked escapade

A Greenwood man was arrested late Tuesday night after he reportedly stripped off all of his clothes and was lying on top of a car kicking his legs.

Rashad Pierre Hatcher, 31, of 306 Old Ninety Six Hwy., was arrested and charged with indecent exposure, malicious damage to personal property and resisting arrest in connection with the incident.

According to a Greenwood Police Department report, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Chace Avenue and Grier Street at about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday night after receiving a report of a naked man standing on Grier Street asking for help. When officers arrived, they found Hatcher lying on top of a red Mitsubishi Eclipse parked near a residence on Grier Street. Hatcher did not have on a shirt and his pants and underwear were around his ankles. Hatcher was kicking his legs in an attempt to get the pants from around his ankles. While he was kicking his legs, Hatcher broke the antenna off the car as well as the rear windshield wiper. Witnesses said they heard someone screaming and went outside to find Hatcher dancing in the streets, exposing himself and screaming, “They getting me!”

According to the report, officers told Hatcher to get off the car, but Hatcher refused. Officers then assisted Hatcher to the ground. Hatcher refused to take his hands from underneath his body. Officers were able to get Hatcher’s hands handcuffed, but Hatcher then began squirming and kicking his legs while officers searched his pants and attempted to get them back on. Hatcher then refused to stand up off the ground, forcing officers to carry him to a patrol car. Hatcher refused to get in the car, forcing officers to assist him into the vehicle. Once at the detention center, Hatcher could not be processed due to the way he was behaving and had to be placed in a holding cell by himself.
