A Greenwood woman was arrested Wednesday after her roommate went to a Walgreen’s Pharmacy to obtain a refill of cough syrup only to discover the refill had already been picked up.
Lara Olszewski Steele, 44, of 318 W. Alexander Ave., has been charged with obtaining a prescription by fraud in connection with the incident.
According to a report from the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, agents with the Greenwood Drug Enforcement Unit Wednesday by employees of the Walgreen’s Pharmacy on S. Main St. in reference to a prescription being fraudulently obtained. Agents were informed that a prescription for hydrocodeine cough syrup was provided last month to Steele’s roommate. Steele admitted to taking the medication and obtaining the refill with no intention of giving it to her roommate. The cough syrup contains a schedule III narcotic.
