South Carolina hospital acts to notify patients of potential personal information access related to computer theft

As part of its ongoing commitment to patient privacy, Self Regional Healthcare (SRH) is notifying affected patients of an incident that may affect the security of their protected health information.  Self Regional and investigating authorities are unaware of any attempted or actual misuse of patients’ protected health information, but Self Regional is providing notification to ensure that patients are aware of the incident so that they may take steps to protect their information. Self Regional will provide one free year of credit monitoring to affected individuals.

Columbus Hope Foundation helps Burton Center
At its annual Operation HOPE Workshop held in Columbia on Saturday, July 12, 2014, the Columbus HOPE Foundation presented a check of $5,000 given to Burton Center's Deputy Director Laurie Cordell.  The money will go to help provide a specialized wheelchair for a non-ambulatory female at Burton Center.

"We are grateful to the Columbus HOPE Foundation and the Knights of Columbus for their help.  This donation will provide a much needed adapted wheelchair for one of our female clients.  This wheelchair will not only increase her mobility, but also improve her quality of life," stated Cordell.
