Hodges man arrested on sex charges involving minor

Joshua Eric Parham, 34 of Hodges SC has been arrested and charged with criminal sexual misconduct with a minor.

According to the police report, family members of the victim became aware that Parham had child porn on his computer, X-box and cell phone.  As they investigated this, a child that had been going over to Parham residence informed them that Parham had indeed touched her inappropriately.

Girls on a Mission to visit Magnolia Manor Nursing Home to spread cheer

The Girls on a Mission will be going to Magnolia Manor Nursing Home on December 22 to have our fall party with the residents.  If you would like to make a donation of candy or other items to help with the treat bags that will be delivered to each resident by the girls you can do so by calling the contact information below.  This is only one of the things that the Girls on a mission participate in as a part of their community service event.

Greenwood man arrested for assaulting wife

On October 15, 2016 deputies with the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office respond to Self Regional Healthcare in reference to an assault that occurred the day before.  A woman only remembered waking up on the floor with severe pain to her head and blood running down her face.  She then realized her husband was in the room.

Lander presents recital with vocalist Clare Henry on October 25

Lander University’s Department of Music will present a recital featuring vocalist Clare Henry on Tuesday, October 25, at 8 p.m. in the Josephine B. Abney Cultural Center Auditorium.

Henry will perform selections in Italian, French, German and English by composers Bach, Mozart, Schubert and Puccini. Admission is free and open to the public. The event is FALS-approved for Lander students.

Pet Spotlight shines on Mitzi & Rhapsody

Mitzi is an energetic girl who loves nothing more than to chase a ball, retrieve it, and carry it around for as long as she can.  They're her "friends."  She seems a little shy at first, but once you throw a ball or toy for her to chase, you've just become her very best friend. Greenwood Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc makes Donation

Members of the Greenwood Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. recently made a donation of snacks to the Brewer Recreation Center After School Program.  Delta Sigma Theta is a public service sorority.  The program currently serves approximately 15 youth ages 7 through 12 in its After School Tutorial Program.

Man arrested for voyeurism

A Greenwood man was arrested and charged with voyeurism after finding a camera in a bedroom.

Darin Eugene Pinkney, 50 was arrested on Oct. 11, 2016 and charged with voyeurism, violating a place of privacy.

According to police report, one of Pinkney’s girlfriend’s children went outside to a small shed where Pinkney spent lots of time inside according to the family.  The child noticed him looking at a computer screen which had a surveillance image of his sister’s bedroom.  The brother quickly ran into the home and informed his sister and later their mother when she arrived home.

PTC Thanks Area Officials with BBQ

The Piedmont Technical College Area Commission recently hosted a barbecue dinner at Bermuda’s at The Links at Stoney Point, for local, state and federal legislators to raise awareness of PTC’s vital role in the workforce development of South Carolina’s Lakelands region. The event was attended by more than 100 people, including legislative officials, the Piedmont Technical College Area Commission, PTC Foundation Board members and members of the PTC faculty and staff.

Three new members have been welcomed to the Self Regional Healthcare Board of Trustees. Mamie Nicholson, Program Officer of The Self Family Foundation; David Tompkins, Senior Vice President and Greenwood Market Executive of Countybank; and Robert Tiller, MD, Program Director of the Self Regional Healthcare Family Medicine Residency Program were appointed by South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley to serve six-year terms on the board.

One Year In, SC Customers Applaud Duke Solar Rebate

South Carolina homeowners and small businesses have benefitted from big savings on solar energy this year, thanks to a hefty rebate from Duke Power that’s still available.

The rebate was introduced one year ago with the intent to spur solar growth in South Carolina. It was put in place in order to get more renewable energy onto the grid, while driving economic activity and saving customers money on their bills in the long run.

Voter Registration Deadlines Extended

COLUMBIA, S.C. – All South Carolina voters will now have more time to return voter registration applications for the 2016 General Election.  This will provide additional opportunity for citizens to register who are affected by voter registration office and post office closures related to Hurricane Matthew.  Post offices are also closed on Monday, October 10 due to a federal holiday.
