Columbus Hope Foundation helps Burton Center
At its annual Operation HOPE Workshop held in Columbia on Saturday, July 12, 2014, the Columbus HOPE Foundation presented a check of $5,000 given to Burton Center's Deputy Director Laurie Cordell.  The money will go to help provide a specialized wheelchair for a non-ambulatory female at Burton Center.

"We are grateful to the Columbus HOPE Foundation and the Knights of Columbus for their help.  This donation will provide a much needed adapted wheelchair for one of our female clients.  This wheelchair will not only increase her mobility, but also improve her quality of life," stated Cordell.

Leath Female Inmates Help Feed Malnourished Animals

The Big Oaks Rescue Farm in Greenwood, SC rescues malnourished and abused animals. This safe-haven is operated by Joe Mann. His passion and dedication to the animals he rescues is evident to all who meet him. He works diligently to ensure that they receive a second chance at a healthy life surrounded by loving hands. The female inmates at Leath Correctional Institution wanted to extend a hand to help.

Authorities capture escaped inmate

An inmate from Laurens County who had escaped from a litter work crew yesterday has been captured. 

According to officials with the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office, Kimberly Jane Collins, 46, escaped from a litter work crew on I-26 near mile marker 52 in Clinton around noon Thursday.

Lowdown Concepts Auto Club collecting supplies for HSOG

Lowdown Concepts Auto Club is collecting supplies on Saturday, July 26, from 11a to 5p. to donate to the Humane Society of Greenwood. The supply drive drop-off site will be located at The Fountain at Uptown Greenwood where adoptable dogs will also be on-site to visit.  There are more animals at shelters during this time of the year and additional supplies are much needed to help provide care for all of them.

Countybank Foundation Donates to the Greenwood County Public Library

Greenwood, SC – Countybank recently submitted a donation of $20,000 to the Greenwood County Public Library.  The $20,000 donation is one of five installments to be donated to the library, resulting in a total of $100,000 over the next five years.

This commitment will help better improve the main Library headquarters, in order to better serve the community through its resources and services.
