A two vehicle collision on S.C. 185 about a mile west of Hodges Elementary School left the drivers of both vehicles injured and the road shut down for over an hour Monday morning. The accident occurred shortly after 8 a.m.

A burgundy Camry LE and a red Ford F-150 appear to have collided head-on, leaving both drivers trapped in their vehicles. South Carolina Highway Patrol, Greenwood County EMS, Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, Hodges-Cokesbury Fire Department, Ware Shoals Fire Department and several other emergency services responded to the scene.

EMS personnel removed the roof of the Camry to get the driver safely out of the vehicle. Both drivers were transported to Self Regional Healthcare to receive treatment for their injuries. A Life Flight landing zone was set up at Hodges-Cokesbury Fire Department Station #40, but the weather prevented the helicopter from flying.

My daughter attends Erskine and through her I have met Jenna. I will certainly keep Jenna, her family and the driver of the other car in my prayers.

On behalf of Jenna and our family we would like to thank all the first responders (bystanders, EMS, firefighters, police) who were there with these girls during this terrible accident. Its times like this that living in a small community like Greenwood means the most. Follow up has been provided to our friends and family and will continue. Prayers have been and will continue for both girls throughout this ordeal!

I just want to ask if there will be a follow up on this story and if every one who is keeping the Ficklins in their prayers would also pray for the other family involved.
