LAURENS, SC – A woman was killed in a collision on I-26 in Laurens County early Friday morning, according to officials with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The collision at mile marker 45 on the east bound side of I-26 at about 4:45 a.m. Friday morning. According to SCHP, a tractor-trailer was travelling east on I-26 when a 2004 Ford SUV struck the rear of the vehicle. The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Laurens County chief deputy coroner Vickie Cheek, the driver of the SUV was identified as 68-year-old Martha Wicker of Joanna.
An autopsy will be performed on Saturday. SCHP continues to investigate the incident.
