A man has been charged in connection with an Abbeville County shooting in which the victim had to be airlifted.
Tracy Douglas Dunn, 41, of 1811 Warren Watt Rd., Iva, was arrested and charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon in connection with the incident.
According to Abbeville County Sheriff’s Office investigators, deputies were dispatched to 2760 Lake Secession Rd., Iva, Saturday night after receiving a report of a shooting. When deputies arrived, they found the victim lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound to the lower leg. The victim was airlifted to Anderson Area Hospital. The victim is expected to make a full recovery. The victim told investigators that he and Dunn were involved in a verbal altercation when Dunn pulled a gun and shot him in the leg.
Court records indicate Dunn pleaded guilty in 2005 to charges of possession of a stolen pistol and discharging a firearm into a dwelling. A charge of assault and battery with intent to kill, which is now known as first degree assault and battery, was dropped as part of the plea arrangement. Dunn was given a probationary sentence, but later violated the probation and was sentenced to one year in prison.
