Deputies responded to 616 Williamson Hill Road, Donalds, SC in reference to a complaint on dogs running at large and in poor physical and living conditions. Deputies found multiple dogs in poor physical condition and found others that were inside the residence and no one around. The owner of the residence arrived on the scene and admitted he was the owner of the animals and there was no power at the residence.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence and did remove 49 dogs of different sizes and breeds from the residence. There was no food for the animals and no running water on the property. Deputies received assistance from Abbeville City Animal control, Anderson County Animal Control, Greenwood County Animal Control, Ware Shoals, Animal Control, Due West and animal Allies to transport and house the dogs as well as Upstate Animal Rescue.
Deputies have charged Benjamin Earl Vaughn of 624 Williamson Hill Road, Donalds, SC with one count of felony Ill Treatment of animals. Vaughn turned himself into deputies this morning and was released on a $5000.00 surety bond.
