PC faculty members announce construction of Laurens County Humane Society Adoption Center

Clinton, SC - Presbyterian College faculty members, Jill Mechling and Dr. Brooke Spatta, are excited to announce that construction is going to begin on the Laurens County Humane Society (LCHS) Adoption Center. Mechling and Spatta will serve as Executive Director and Assistant Director, respectively.

The Laurens County Humane Society has been operating without a shelter for many years, but a new 2,000 square foot building is being constructed on five acres of donated land on the corner of Poplar Street and Charlottes Road. The new no-kill adoption center is being fully funded by donations to LCHS with the intent of adding more kennels as more donations come in. Construction on the building should begin in two months and last approximately six months. The finished adoption center will help LCHS to save even more animals and will provide a safe temporary home for many animals in the years to come.

“Our main concern is for the welfare of the animals in Laurens County,” said Executive Director Jill Mechling. “We hope the local community is just as excited as we are about the new opportunities this building will provide for dogs and cats that are waiting to find a loving home.”
