Local event supports Shriners Hospital

On June 19, 2015 Roan Creek Farm in Donalds, SC and the Greenwood Shrine Club raised $2000 for the Shriners Hospital. The event was held in honor of Brittany Baker a current patient at Shriners Hospital in Greenville and an avid Equestrian. The event went so well Roan Creek Farm has agreed to host future Hospital Fundraisers.  Promoters for the event were Kayla Caudle, a representative from Roan Creek Farm and Can Do Cowgirls and Kelly McAlhaney, owner of Roan Creek Farm.

Ware Shoals School District announced today that The O’Dell Corporation will provide all ‘back to school’ supplies for Ware Shoals Primary students in grades 5K – 4th for the upcoming school year. Company executives presented the district with a check for $10,000 at the school board meeting Monday night.

NS School District to name baseball field to honor Sammy Corley

The Ninety Six School Board approved a resolution during their meeting held Tuesday, July 21 to rename the Ninety Six Baseball field to honor the late Sammy Corley.

Corley has a long list of accolades starting as far back as the late 50’s.  He was a six-time MVP of Ninety Six Wildcat Baseball and named All-State, Co-Captain of the 1962 State Champion Football team and further went on to play in the American Legion Baseball league.

FLW announces 2016 Walmart FLW Tour Schedule, Lake Hartwell on list

ORLANDO, Fla. Ninety Six Home Destroyed by Fire

A home in Ninety Six was totally destroyed by fire.  Several fire departments responded to a home located on North Church Street in Ninety Six, SC to assist the Ninety Six Fire Department.   Also responding were the Greenwood Sheriff’s Office, EMS and Ninety Six Police.  It is unknown at this time if anyone was injured.  More information will be added as they become available.

Upstate baby dies; man charged with child abuse

LAURENS COUNTY, S.C.  - A 6-month-old baby boy has died from injuries, and a man is charged with abuse in the case, according to the Laurens County coroner.

Coroner Nick Nichols said the baby was pronounced dead at Greenville Memorial just after 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Fundraising Opens to Finish Grace Street Dog Park

Fundraising is underway for Phase 2 of the Grace Street Dog Park’s development offering sponsorships for benches, tables, landscaping, and engraved bricks for the Reflection Grove, entrance path, and Dog Park play yards.  An event to commemorate the dog park’s first anniversary will be October 4, 2015, which coincides with the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.  All sponsored items ordered by August 15 will be in place for the special anniversary ceremony.
