Shooting victim dies

GREENWOOD, SC – A man who was shot through the window of a home on Moss Creek Lane has died as a result of the gunshot wounds he received, according to Greenwood County Coroner Jim Coursey.

Tavaris K Lester, 21, of Greenwood, died at 7:07 p.m. Friday at Self Regional Healthcare as a result of the injuries he received when he was shot while playing cards in the kitchen of the home at 203 Moss Creek Lane on Friday, November 16th. The incident occurred just before 10 p.m.

Police found Lester unresponsive when they arrived, but were able to revive him by performing CPR prior to the arrival of EMS. Lester was then transported to Self Regional Healthcare for treatment of the injuries.

An autopsy will be performed in Anderson on Sunday.

Praying for the family of this young man. I don't know why this incident occured, but it's very tragic and unfortunate.
