Woman facing unlawful neglect charge

A Greenwood woman is facing a charge of unlawful neglect of a child after she allegedly dropped off her 16-year-old daughter, who is supposed to stay in her custody, with another woman and said the daughter would be homeless if not allowed to stay at the other woman’s residence.

Upper Savannah Job Fair has 50-plus employers registered, still welcomes more

Organizers of the Upper Savannah Regional Job Fair have announced that 50-plus employers have already signed up for this month’s event but are encouraging more employers to participate.

The bi-annual Upper Savannah Regional Job Fair will be held at Greenwood Mall April 30 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There is no charge to participate.

Future Stars of the LPGA could win $1 Million cash prize as part of the Inaugural Park Sterling Links Cup

Charlotte, N.C. – The future stars of the LPGA will have a chance to win $1 million this season as part of a new sponsorship between Park Sterling Bank (Nasdaq: PSTB) and the three tournaments that comprise the Symetra Tour’s Carolina swing.  The $1 million Park Sterling Links Cup* will be awarded to any player who wins all three events contested this season in North and South Carolina, including the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation Women’s Health Charity Classic (May 8-11 in Greenwood, S.C.), the Friends of Mission Charity Classic (May 16-18 in Asheville, N.C.) and the Symetra Classic (May 22-24 in Charlotte). In the event one player does not win all three tournaments, a cash prize will be awarded to the player who has the lowest scoring average over all three events.

Former Lander residence hall scheduled to be torn down

Coleman Hall, which was a Lander University student resident hall for nearly 30 years, will be torn down.

The eight-story brick building is located on Hampton Avenue between West Cambridge Avenue and Merriman Street, about two blocks from Lander’s campus. It was more than 60 years ago as a garden-type apartment complex containing 50 units. Lander acquired the building in 1975 to provide much-needed housing for 117 students as the university’s enrollment grew.
