Greenwood city manager Charlie Barrineau has been named IAAP Executive Year. According to IAAP, Barrineau is a conscientious, hard-working individual that is thoughtful and kind to all his employees from the public works laborers on the street to those in administrative offices. Barrineau has an energetic spirit which inspires others to strive to do well.
Barrineau has worked diligently with other agencies to help develop the City Center which included restorations of historic buildings, well-lit streetscaping and attractively landscaped walkways.
Barrineau’s leadership has been very beneficial on many boards and committees, such as the South Carolina Municipal Insurance and Risk Financing Fund and Healthy Greenwood Neighborhoods Board of Directors. He participates in activities throughout the City of Greenwood that encourage community support. In addition to his civic work, he still finds to the time to prepare supper at his church on Wednesday evenings.
I am very honored and humbled to receive the award,” Barrineau said. “The City of Greenwood is blessed with a great staff and I am surrounded by great people that make my job very easy.”
