Two men were arrested after police reportedly found concealed weapons on both men as well as prescription medications on one of them.

According to a report from the Greenwood Police Department, police were dispatched to Coleman Dr. in reference to a suspicious vehicle with two men asleep inside, parked in front of a residence  just before 9 p.m. Monday night. After waking the men, police asked the two men, later identified as Jimmy Wayne Bice, 29, of 54 Old Main St. in Chappells, and Thomas Michael Burroughs, 56, of 3514 Hwy. 246 N in Hodges, to step out of the vehicle.

When the two men exited the vehicle, police observed multiple beverage containers, hand tools, utensils, cell phone batteries and open medication packages in the center console and driver side floorboard.

According to the report, police then asked if either of the men had any weapons and both said they did not. A search of Bice yielded a set of brass knuckles with spikes on each knuckle and a floss container containing five pills, which Bice identified as Xanax. A search of Burroughs yielded a 4 inch fixed blade knife in the small of his back and another folding knife in his pocket. Burroughs also had two hypodermic syringes in his sock.

The report states that Bice gave consent for officers to search his vehicle. Police discovered multiple folding knives in the open position, cell phone batteries, AA batteries, two empty packages of cold medicine and two coffee filters twisted into a pouch containing a substance which later field tested positive for ephedrine.

Police also discovered a back pack that contained cell phones, tools, wires, surveillance cameras with frayed wires, multiple razor blades and bent metal spoons consistent with those used to melt narcotics.

Bice was arrested and charged with possession of a concealed weapon, possession of a schedule IV controlled substance and possession of ephedrine in an altered state. His bond was set at $4,000 cash or surety and he is currently being held at the Greenwood County Detention Center.

Burroughs was charged with possession of a concealed weapon and released on a personal recognizance bond Tuesday morning.

Maybe we should require background checks before buying medications, knives, etc....and make more laws against possession or selling of drugs. I am sure these men probably worked for a living somewhere & were not going around planning on stealing or harming law abiding citizens.
