Murder Suspect Arraigned

GREENWOOD, SC – Tyvon Jervaise Greely, 17, was arrested Tuesday and charged with the murder of Antonio Randall, 22, that occurred Monday night. Greely appeared before the Greenwood County Magistrate Wednesday morning for an arraignment hearing. An arraignment hearing is the first step in the criminal process where the accused is read the charges against him or her. Greely received a second charge for Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime at the hearing. He was also denied bond because a circuit court judge must make the decision on bond in cases where capital punishment may be involved. Greely’s next chance to have bond set will be in about two weeks. His initial court appearance has been set for May 4, 2012.

I agree 100%. The increase in crime among our youth is very sad. The parents have to be more responsible, but where is the accountability of our elected officials. What is being done to curtail the violence among our youth? Where are they getting guns from? We had 2 violent attacks back to back involving guns and shooting among our youth.

I will say this much! Greenwood's youth has gotten out of control. Whether it be black, white, latino or asian. I've seen a major increase in the amount of arrests, shootings and assaults perpetrated by my own people(i'm black). This has to stop!! Why are our kids acting out. I hear there's gangs now but glad that it hasn't infiltrated the entire county. Parents if you know of your kids having issues and need help please get it for them. This is sad! i hate seeing the police busting their tails attending to shots fired or fights when they can be living a peaceful life if we all speak up when we see these actions. I'm scared for my family and others. Where is the mayor in all this? This is his town aint it? Why hasn't the Index interviewed him or chief of police about Greenwood's new "top of the list" crime status? we are the worst in the state, 1st in the country with an increased demographic profile.
