Born in Greenwood, he was a son of Teresa Ann Yarrington Neathery and Joseph Neathery, Jr. He was employed by Ascend and a member of South Greenwood Assembly of God.

Dorothy Findley Anderson

Dorothy Findley Anderson passed on Sunday the 14th of July 2019 while in hospice care – a matriarch to an almost innumerably large family – who was loved and respected by all knowing her. Kind, loving, and with a passion for truth and doing what is right, she was 90.

Born on the 11th of November 1928, in Lyons, GA to the late Alex and Pinky (maiden: Mitchum) Findley, Dorothy – or Dot as often called by close friends and family – was a graduate of Lyons High School.  She was an earnest former employee of biotech giants Abbott Laboratories and Baxter International. She also enjoyed cleaning houses for family and friends.

Carol Steffensen Johnson, 84, of Emerald Gardens, widow of Robert M. Johnson, died Monday, July 15, 2019 at Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont. 

Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was a daughter of the late Sigvald W. and Emma Jacobsen Steffensen.  Carol was the former music director at Christ Lutheran Church in NY. She enjoyed playing golf and was a member of Parkland Golf Club. Carol was a very active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Mr Luther Yeldell , Jr entered into eternal rest of July 6, 2019 in Detroit Michigan He was born February 26, 1936 in Greenwood County.

He is survived by his loving wife Helen Yeldell, his children DeQuata Joseph, Mark Yeldell, Crystal McCree, and Darrell Yeldell .

He was a graduate of Brewer High School, and formerly married to Betty Parks Yeldell. Funeral services were held in Detroit Michigan.

Mozelle Smalley Hamilton, 95, of Chapin and formerly of Orchard Park, Greenwood, widow of the Rev. Ancel A. Hamilton, Sr., died Sunday, July 14, 2019 at the Lowman Home in Chapin.

Born in Newry, SC, she was a daughter of the late George David and Nell Ford Smalley.  Mrs. Hamilton was employed by Greenwood Mills, Harris Plant for thirty years and retired from Park Seed Company.  She was a member of New Covenant Church.

David Jackson Monk, 71, of 113 Orchard Park Drive, Greenwood, SC, died Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born in Alamance County, NC, he was the son of the late Neal Jackson and Mary Ann Phelps Monk. He received his master’s degree in Nursing and Science and was a US Navy Veteran. Mr. Monk was a Shriner, a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Powhatan Star 124 Lodge (Petersburg, VA), and a member of the National Rifle Association.

Carroll H. Blackwell, 90, a resident of Highway 246 in Coronaca, husband of Evelyn Childress Blackwell, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born in Spartanburg, April 18, 1929, he was a son of the late Clinton Dupre and Irene Jones Blackwell.  He was a graduate of Greenwood High School and was a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in Europe.  He was a former building contractor and later retired from Monsanto after 23 years with the company.

John Carroll Foshee - Ninety Six

John Carroll Foshee 93, formerly of Lowell Street, Ninety Six, widow of Lillian McDaniel Foshee, died Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Morning Side Assisted Living.

Born in Newberry County, he was the son of the late Johnny and Emmie Lou Long Foshee.  Carroll was a U. S. Navy veteran of WWII and was a member of the American Legion 96 Post.  He worked for Greenwood Mills as a Superintendent and also Clinton Mills. Carroll was a member of Ninety Six Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Bert Alvin Blair passed away at the Self Regional Healthcare Medical Center in Greenwood, SC on July 9, 2019 from complications of old age. He was born on March 19, 1927 at Mason, OH. He was the son of Ethol and Pearl Gaskins Blair. He was a graduate of Amelia High School and earned his Bachelor's degree in music education at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati majoring in piano and minoring in viola. While in undergraduate school he served as president of the student council and president of the Eta chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia music fraternity. He married Dorothy Jean Denman on June 23, 1951 at Bond Hill Presbyterian Church in Cincinnati, OH.
