Mildred Davenport Reid, 92, resident of Magnolia Manor of Greenwood and formerly of Ware Shoals, wife of the late Sam Allen Reid, died Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Hospice House.
Born December 7, 1919, in Greenwood County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Nora Butler Davenport. Mrs. Reid was the last member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Reid was a member of Beulah Baptist Church of Abbeville, was formerly a member of Harmony United Methodist Church in Ware Shoals and retired from Tavern Sportswear.
Surviving are two daughters, Sandra R. (Harvey) Gillion of Greenwood and June R. (Danny) Moore of Newberry; a son, Gerald A. (Sallie) Reid of Ware Shoals; a special nephew, Bob Lagrone of Ware Shoals; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Cobb officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Dustin Reid, Bruce Holland, Rick Holland, Tommy Willard, George Fulmer and Johnnie Lawrence Balentine.
The family is at the home of Sandra and Harvey Gillion, 202 Briarwood Road and will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Wednesday immediately before the service.
