Donnie Lee Henderson, 71

Donnie Lee Henderson, 71, resident of 463 Ridgewood Drive, died Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at his home.

Born in Greenwood, July 29, 1941, he was the son of the late Howard C. and Thelma Rhodes Henderson.  He was a 1960 graduate of Greenwood High School and a 1966 graduate of Western Carolina University and retired from RJ Reynolds Tabaco Company after 34 years of service.  Donnie was a former player and proud member of both the Greenwood High School and Western Carolina University Football Teams.

Surviving Donnie is his significant other, Maureen “Mo” Lewis of the home; one son, Donnie L. Henderson, Jr. and wife Leslie of Dacula, GA; two daughters, Ann Henderson of Blairsville, GA and Leslie Henderson of Atlanta, GA; his twin brother, Ronnie Henderson and wife Paula of Greenwood; one sister, Pat Henderson Brooks and husband David of Greenwood; four granddaughters, two grandsons, one great-granddaughter; four nieces and a nephew, all who loved him very much.

Memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 15, 2012, from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Weeks and Rev. David Byars officiating.

The family is at the home on Ridgewood Drive and will receive friends immediately following the memorial service at the funeral home.

Honorary escort will be former Greenwood High School Emeralds (now Eagles) teammates and members of “The Herd” of Western Carolina University.
