Elizabeth Coleman “Betty” Lumley, 82, resident of 200 Highway 246 South, widow of Harold “Chicken” Lumley, Jr., died December 25, 2012 at her home.
Born in Greenwood, March 21, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Leland Abney Coleman and Evelyn VeRelle Coleman. Mrs. Lumley was a 1950 graduate of Lander College where she was a member of the Equestrian Team. A member and former Sunday School Teacher at First Presbyterian Church, she was also a Charter member of the Holly Garden Club and former substitute teacher for Greenwood School District 50.
Surviving are a daughter, Lyn Lumley Cothran and husband Sherard of Abbeville; two sons, John Lumley and wife Nancy and Leland Lumley and wife Kristie, all of Greenwood; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Braitsch of Charleston, Mathew Darmer and Carolyn Lumley, both of Greenwood.
Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 PM Friday at Bethlehem Cemetery with Dr. John Bacot officiating.
Pallbearers will be Abney Wallace, Rick Wallace, Joey Bagwell, Barron Burch, David Johns, Joe Cantrell, Abney Coleman and Dick Burch.
The family is at the home on Highway 246 South where they will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 Thursday afternoon.
