James Paul Trotter, 85, resident of 109 Crestview Drive, husband of Jennifred Sargent Trotter, died February 4, 2013 at Hospice House.
Born in Saluda County, August 24, 1927, he was the son of the late Elzie Lee and Bessie Butler Trotter. He was a US Navy Veteran and a retired Superintendent from GE Moore Construction Co.
Mr. Trotter was a member of Coronaca Baptist Church and the Mens Bible Class and was a former deacon of the church. Being an avid golfer, he was a member of Parkland Golf Club and was a passionate fisherman.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 65 years of the home are two daughters, Carol (Bill) Collins of Denton, TX and Beth Denton of Greenwood; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Joe) Calfee and Lesley (Kevin) Rollins, all of Denton, TX and James Denton and David Denton, both of Greenwood; great-grandchildren, Miranda, Abby and Katherine Rollins, Maddy White and Geoffrey Calfee; three sisters, Elsie Bedenbough of Leesville, Annette (Cecil) McCarty and Dot (Gene) Rogers, all of Saluda; one brother, Ernest Trotter.
Mr. Trotter was predeceased by sisters, Tranny Lou Gentry, Ruth Bray, Helen Duncan and Lillie Mae Berry.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday at Coronaca Baptist Church with Rev. Todd Polatty and Rev. Drew Gunter officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Davenport, James Denton, David Denton, Sam Sargent, Max Sargent, Jerry Davis, John Berry, Michael Fortson and Heyward Berry.
Honorary escort will be the Men of Coronaca Baptist Church.
The body is at Blyth Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 1:00 PM Thursday.
The family is at the home on Crestview Drive and will receive friends at the church from 1:00 to 2:00 Thursday afternoon.
