Charlie Brooks 73, of 834 Abney Street widow of Carolyn Martin Brooks died February 13, 2013 at Self Regional Medical Center. He was born in Greenwood County January 9, 1940 a son of the late Dan Brooks and Ada Bell Stewart Brooks. He was a member of Marshall Chapel Baptist Church and retired from Childs Furniture Store.
Surviving are three sons, Robert Gaskin, Reggie Johnson of Greenwood and Marion Martin (Lashonda) of Greenville; two daughters, Cora Lee Brooks of Las Vegas, NV and Keisha Booker of Greenwood; four brothers, Rev. Roosevelt Brooks (Doris) , Bobby Joe Brooks, John Brooks (Willie Mae) and Cleveland Brooks all of Greenwood; four sisters, Mamie Duncan, Loretta Brooks, and Hazel Pickney all of Greenwood and Georgia Louden of Ninety-Six, SC; 22 grandchildren , four great grandchildren and a devoted caregiver Devona Gaines and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday February 18 at 2pm at Marshall Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Roosevelt Brooks officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers and Flower bearers will be friends of the family.
The body will be placed in the church at 1.
Public viewing will begin at 1pm on Sunday
