Martha Rodgers Keller, 80, resident of 1005 Brown Town Road, widow of Charles E. Keller, Sr., died April 30, 2013 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in the Callison Community of Greenwood, August 3, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Samuel A. and Sarah Banister Rodgers. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School and Furman University. Mrs. Keller taught in the public school systems in Lancaster and Orangeburg and retired from Long Cane Academy in McCormick in 2011 after 48 years of teaching.
Mrs. Keller was an active, faithful and committed member of Bold Spring Baptist Church, the Ladies’ Bible Class and the Women on Mission. She loved her Lord, family and friends with all her heart and touched the lives of all who knew her. She lit up any room with her beautiful smile, the sparkle in her eyes, her warm hugs, and her ever ready sense of humor. She was a prayer warrior, an inspiration, and a treasure.
Surviving is a son, Chuck Keller and wife Roxie of Callison; a daughter, Sarah Monson and husband John of Simpsonville; three cousins, Bonnie Banister of Bradley, Mary Vassy of Greenwood and Patsy Partridge of Clinton.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Friday at Bold Spring Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Garrison and Rev. Chuck Keller officiating.
Burial will be in Bold Spring Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Roland Temple, Scotty Callan, David Brooks, John Lodge, George Patterson, George Long, Gaines Robinson and John Tom Banister.
Honorary escort will be Men of Bold Spring Baptist Church along with Dr. Kevin Carson, Dr. David Bridges, Jerry Brown, Marion Boone, Terry Boone and Jerry Boone.
The family is at the home of Chuck and Roxie Keller, 520 Bethel Road, and will receive friends at the church from 1:30 to 3:00 Friday afternoon.
