Frank Henderson, Sr., 68, resident of 415 Northside Drive, husband of Reverend Hattie Jones Henderson, entered into eternal rest on October 7, 2013 at Self Regional Healthcare.
Born in Greenwood, August 15, 1945, he was a son of the late Agnes Henderson and Henry, Jr. and Willie Rachel Henderson. A 1963 graduate of Brewer High School, Mr. Henderson was also 1976 graduate of the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. He served the Greenwood City Police Department and the Greenwood County Sherriff’s Office for many years. While in law enforcement he served as part of the SWAT team and was a sharp shooter. Mr.
Henderson later retired from Pirelli Cable Company. He was a 32nd Degree Mason.
Mr. Henderson was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Sally Puckett; and a sister, Rosa Mary Laury.
Surviving in addition to his wife of nineteen years of the home are two sons, Frank Henderson, Jr. of Greenwood and Vincent Henderson and wife Joyce of Simpsonville; four daughters, Vanessa Henderson, Teresa Williams, Priscilla Williams and Patricia Anderson, all of Greenwood; three sisters, Georgianna Whitted and husband Howard of Greenwood, Angela Cowins and husband James of Columbia and Mary Henderson Charley and husband James of Irmo; three brothers, Henry Greene and wife Patricia of Lexington, Andrew Greene and wife Cynthia of Greenwood and Robert Greene, also of Greenwood; eleven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1:00 PM at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev. John Aiken officiating, assisted by Rev. Michael Butler, Minister Rebecca Aiken, Brother Hosie Byrd, Rev. Emanuel Spearman and Rev. Ida Shipman. Burial will follow at Oakbrook Memorial Park.
The body is at Blyth Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 12 Noon Friday.
Pallbearers will be officers of Greenwood County Sherriff’s Office.
Honorary escort will be members of Brewer High School Class of 1963.
The family is at the home and will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6-8PM.
