Hassie Osborne Hammett, 95, resident of 215 Sagewood Road, widow of William Leroy Hammett, died November 10, 2013 at NHC of Greenwood.
Born in Clermont, GA, May 23, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Jeff. D. and Julia Caudell Osborne. Mrs. Hammett attended the Georgia Public School system and was a homemaker. She was a member of West Side Baptist Church and more recently attended North Side Baptist Church.
Surviving are her three children, Robert Lee Hammett (Charlotte) of West Virginia, Jane H. Dean (Bob) and Dennis Hammett (Peggy), all of Greenwood; seven grandchildren, Robbie, Joshua and Caroline Dean, all of Greenwood, Melanie H. Doty (Bobby) of Myrtle Beach and Chris (Jill) Hammett of Greenwood, Allison Morrison and Cindy (Donnie) Miller, all of West Virginia; four great-grandchildren, Cooper Hammett of Greenwood, Luke and Jake Doty, both of Myrtle Beach and Heather M. Coleman of West Virginia; one great-great-grandchild, Landon Coleman of West Virginia and a brother-in-law, Thomas Hammett of Tacoma, WA.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 AM Wednesday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Lethco and Rev. Jake Mullinax officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be grandsons along with Bobby Doty, Phil Osborne, Thomas Osborne, Andy Robinson and Fayrell Furr.
The family is at the home of Dennis and Peggy Hammett, 156 Rutledge Road, and will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 Tuesday evening.
