Lorene Elliott Florence, 73, resident of 662 Lakeview Farm Road, widow of Earl Norman Florence, died February 13, 2014 at Hospice House in Greenwood.
Born in Anderson County, January 8, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Lewis and Essie Meredith Elliott. Mrs. Florence retired from Monsanto after over 40 years of service and was a volunteer with the Greenwood Soup Kitchen. She attended Jordan Memorial Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Sharon Lawton of Greenwood; two sons, Daniel James Lawton and wife Ann of Greenwood and Rusty Lawton and wife Aileen of Newberry; a step-daughter, Lori Florence of Greenwood; one sister, Judy Alexander and husband Kirk of Greenwood; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and a special friend, Tom Arnold of Greenwood.
Mrs. Florence was twice married, first to the late Oliver “Red” Lawton, Jr. and was also predeceased by a daughter, Susan Elaine Lawton and a sister, Gail Bledsoe.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM Sunday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Barrett Alewine officiating.
Entombment will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be Stan Carper, Kirk Alexander, Carroll Bledsoe, Carroll Powell, Scott Bledsoe and Ricky Bledsoe.
The family is at the home of Judy and Kirk Alexander, 128 Rutledge Road in Forest Hills and will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 to 6:00 Saturday afternoon.
