Virginia Theresa Danet Free, 70, resident of 540 Deadfall Road, widow of James E. Free, Sr., died April 23, 2014, at her home.

Born September 22, 1943, in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, she was a daughter of the late Pierre Emile and Helen Bernier Danet. 

Mrs. Free attended Piedmont Technical College and retired from Grimes Aerospace.

She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Theresa Free (Chuck) Scott and Kathy Free Findley, all of Greenwood; a son, James “Jimmy” (Deborah) Free, Jr. of Greenwood; three sisters, Anne Danet of St. Thomas, Marie C. Burroughs of Apopka, FL, and Marie Metosh of Petersburg, VA; six grandchildren, Heather (Steven) Bowie, Arica Scott, James Findley, Joseph Findley, Charlie Amerson and Amber Westmoreland; and a great grandson, Tyler Bowie.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Friday at the Oakbrook Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Rick Hendricks officiating. 

The family is at the home of her son, Jimmy, 126 Oxford Road in Druid Hills Subdivision and will receive friends at that address on Thursday evening and at the mausoleum chapel following the service.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 231 Hampton Street, Greenwood, SC 29646.
