Grace Broome Clegg, 86, resident of 814 Sunset Dr., widow of John Ray Clegg, died May 9, 2014 at Hospice House.
Born in Greenwood County, August 2, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Malvin Bodie and Hattie McCord Broome. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School and was formerly employed with Connie Maxwell Children’s Home. Mrs. Clegg retired from Greenwood Supply Company.
A charter member of Rice Memorial Baptist Church, she was also a member of the Unity Sunday School Class of the church.
Surviving are a daughter, Deirdre C, Edwards of Greenwood; a grandson, Nicholas (Ginny) Edwards, all of Greenwood; a foster daughter, Sue (John) Sheriff of Greenwood; a foster granddaughter, Christina (Alan) Green of Deland, FL and a foster grandson, John David Sheriff of Charlotte, NC; two great-granddaughters and four foster great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Monday at Rice Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Alvin Hodges and Rev. Jimmy Tucker officiating.
Burial will follow in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Chris Guire, Billy Ray Price, Matthew Robinson, Graham Adams, Larry Wightman, Stan McManus, Jeff Blum and Scott McNeil.
Honorary escort will be members of the Unity Sunday School Class along with Randy and Bonnie Vaughn, Sherry Claphan and Joby Adams.
The body is at Blyth Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 11:00 AM Monday.
The family is at the home of Deirdre Edwards, 716 Woodlawn Road and will receive friends at the church from 10 to 11 Monday morning.
