Anne C. Gibert, 83, resident of Wesley Commons, died May 15, 2014 at her home.
Born in Abbeville County, November 19, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John Albert and Louise Bynum Gibert. She was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and for a number of years was employed by several Federal agencies. She was active in a number of organizations, including the South Carolinian Library of the University of South Carolina, the South Carolina Historical Society, the Huguenot Society of South Carolina, the National Huguenot Society, the DAR, the American Legion Auxiliary and the South Carolina Genealogical Society (Columbia Chapter). Miss Gibert was for a number of years a genealogical and historical researcher and several of her published papers were given national recognition. She was also active in buying and selling antiques in the Columbia area.
Miss Gibert was a charter member of St. Martin’s in the Fields Episcopal Church in Columbia where she was for several years Chairman of St. Margaret’s Guild and a member of the Martineers. Since moving to Wesley Commons, she has attended the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Greenwood.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday at the Old Willington Presbyterian Church Cemetery in McCormick County with Rev. Nicholas Beasley officiating.
