Charles Francis “JEB” Stewart, resident of Ninety Six, SC, husband of Sylvia J. “Bobbie” Stewart, passed from this life June 13, 2014 at his home.
Born in Des Moines, Iowa, he was the son of the late Charles Edward Stewart and Gertrude Elliott Stewart. He had three brothers and one sister.
“JEB” was a US Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II, having served as a pilot in the Air Transport Command. He stayed on with the Air Corps until it became the US Air Force obtaining the position of “Captain”. After leaving the Air Force he returned to Washington and worked with the US Department of Agriculture until his retirement.
He was a dedicated member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He was also, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an active member of EAA Chapter 1023 where he served as treasurer and secretary for many years. He was a member of the Merry Mixers Square Dance Club. He was an avid dancer, bowler and golfer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 AM Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Rev. Father Arnolfo Jara officiating.
Military inurnment will be in M.J. “Dolly” Cooper National Cemetery in Anderson, SC with Military Rites and a Missing Man Formation Flyover.
The family is at the home in Ninety Six and will receive friends at Blyth Funeral Home from 6:00 to 7:30 Monday evening.
