Tommy McAlister - Greenwood

William Thomas “Tommy” McAlister, III, 43, resident of 3313 Highway 25 South, husband of Allison Nicole McAlister passed away peacefully, Wednesday, June 25, 2014, surrounded by his family at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born in Greenwood, February 19, 1971, he was a son of William Thomas McAlister, Jr. and Linda Bush Banks.  Tommy earned an Associate’s Degree in Mechatronics and Industrial Electronics from Piedmont Technical College.  He served in the SC National Guard and had formerly been employed with Greenwood Mills Chalmers Plant and Fuji Film.  He was employed with Prysmian Power Cables and Systems for the past five years.

Tommy formerly enjoyed hunting and could fix anything that was broken.  He was dedicated to his wife and girls, and his beloved grandson “C-Clamp” always surrounding them with his love.  All of his friends and family joked about his orderliness, but Tommy had a saying “Everything has a place and there is a place for everything.”  He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving in addition to his devoted wife of twenty years of the home and his father and step-mother, Sandra of Cross Hill and mother of Greenwood are two daughters, Taylor Kaitlyn McAlister and fiancé, Kelby Clamp of Ninety Six and Ashley Morgan McAlister of the home; a grandson, Carson Lee Clamp, of Ninety Six; two sisters, Tyna Williams and husband Mike of Bradley and Vickie Sutley and husband Mark of Greenwood; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 AM from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Robbie Burton officiating.  Burial will follow in Oakbrook Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Jason Bush, Jamie Bush, Joe Clary, Wade Getsinger, Travis McCary and Tim Beck.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6-8 PM and at other times at their respective homes.

Tommy was so humbled by the many friends who gave of their time to help him and his family and had always been the one who gave of himself to others.  In his memory the family requests those desiring to make memorials to their favorite charity.
