Hoyt Andrew Hembree, 88, resident of 105 Coventry Drive, husband of Ann Taylor Hembree, died Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Hospice Care of the Piedmont, Hospice House.
Born in Danielsville, GA, May 3, 1929, he was a son of the late Marvin Monroe and Ella Edmonds Hembree. He was a graduate of Ware Shoals High School and a US Navy veteran having served four years during the Korean War. Hoyt was formerly employed by Daniel Construction Company, Parke Davis and Co., and retired from Professional Medical Products.
He was member of Rock Presbyterian Church, Ware Shoals Masonic Lodge #306 AFM, American Legion Post #20 and the Emerald Seniors Golf Group. He was an avid golfer and Clemson fan.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 68 years of the home are his daughters, Patti Finley and Laurie and husband Andy Anderson all of Spartanburg ; a son, Larry Andrew Hembree of Columbia; five grandsons, Matthew Weldon Finley, James Gordon Finley, John Christopher Andrew Finley, Raymond Arthur Anderson, IV and Taylor Andrew Anderson; a great-granddaughter, Lillian Grace Finley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2PM Friday at Rock Presbyterian Church with Dr. Chris Leonard and Rev. Debby Plumstead Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be grandsons along with Scott Russ.
The honorary escort will be Dennis Aliffi, Curtis Burnett, Rock Davis, Rufus Edmonds, Odis Gray, Wayne Thomas and Dustin Wood.
The body is at Blyth Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 1PM Friday.
The family is at the home in Canterbury and will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 7:30 Thursday evening.
